Book Blast

You’ve dreamed of writing a book, but don’t know where to begin. Perhaps you’ve started to write a few times, but have never been able to cross the finish line. Maybe you have a concept, story, or idea, but don’t have experience in writing for publication. If that’s the case, a Book Blast may be for you.

After seven to nine extraordinary days on site with publishing experts, you’ll leave with 80%-100% of your manuscript completed, and the ability to write tighter, faster, and better for future projects.

Books don’t write themselves, but we can ensure the book you’ve always wanted to write is completed, published, AND something you feel proud to put your name on.

Step 1: Assessment

The prospective Book Blast client sends at least five fully written and edited chapters for review. Chapters are evaluated according to the Manuscript Submission Criteria (attached), and a Book Blast level will be suggested according to the anticipated level of work required to bring the work to completion.

Step 2: Assignment

All Book Blasts consist of an on-site visit with Suzanne Kuhn and Anita Brooks, two senior Brookstone team members with more than 50 years combined experience in the book world from both the author and the retailer’s side. They are an onsite and real-time Research and Development team who’s sole focus is accelerate the publishing process to warp speed for you. At the end of the Blast process, you will have a polished, edited and proofed, ready-to-submit manuscript and ancillary. In addition, you will have learned insider secrets to the publishing process.

Level 1: Ghost Doctoring

This level is for the novice writer who has a message, but little to no previous experience in the publishing world. Note I said “publishing,” not “writing” world. Writing for blogs, articles, and social media posts is different in requirements and flow than a 55,000 word book.

This Blast includes:

• 10 day onsite editing intensive that will get the bulk of your message down on the page and into a first draft form
• Onsite writing coaching
• two additional rounds of edits returned to you within 8 weeks
• a proofing round for the manuscript and ancillary materials (back cover copy, foreward, endorsements, etc.)

Level 2: Advanced Editing

This level is for the writer who has experience in the publishing world or the bulk of a manuscript written and edited.

This Blast includes:

• 5-6 day onsite editing intensive that will get the bulk of your message down on the page and into a first draft form
• one to two additional rounds of edits returned to you within 8 weeks
• a proofing round for the manuscript and ancillary materials (back cover copy, foreword, endorsements, etc.
